How weak list quality drags CTR

  • dead addresses add noise
  • low-intent segments lower engagement density

Cleaning does not magically create better copy. But it does make the audience side of the metric more honest.

The practical fix

Before optimizing buttons and CTAs, check:

  • whether the list was cleaned recently
  • whether stale segments should be sunset
  • whether the denominator is bloated by contacts you should not still be mailing
